Gambeeram

University Project

The goal of this project was to create a more environmentally sustainable take-out package. My inspiration was the traditional Indian tiffin. There is an enormous industry dedicated to the delivery of home-cooked meals in tiffins via bicycle; when customers are finished the tiffins are picked up. The packaging is recyclable cardboard with screened labels, which also acts as a placemat once opened; a perforated business card is integrated into the box-top. A real tiffin is used, and returned by the customer for a cash deposit/discount off their next meal. The logotype mirrors the look of Malayalam, a language spoken predominantly in Southern India.
